Acorn works with tree services in the area to utilize logs destined for firewood, mill them into lumber, dry and process them ourselves to provide high quality cabinet lumber. We also work with local loggers, sawmills and wood brokers to find sustainable woods such as black locust, honey locust, elm, and ash.
For our fine furniture Acorn often uses quartersawn white oak, curly maple, figured cherry and black walnut harvested from urban trees.
When the work calls for a foreign wood we specify plantation grown or certified sustainably harvested and can usually find it. Acorn loves to use these woods as accents. We have found that by politely and persistantly requesting sustainable woods, our suppliers have gone from "what?" to prominently labeling the green products... even at Home Depot.
Please ask us about custom cabinets, built- ins, furniture, custom base, case, flooring, and other architectural millwork...we are happy to provide and install it. Challenge us!
